How Interviewing Has Changed the Way I See People

Interviewing has significantly influenced my understanding of people. Before taking this class, I viewed interviews merely as a way to gather information. Now, I recognize them as opportunities to uncover depth, sincerity, and the nuances of human experience.

Conducting a thoughtful interview requires patience. It encourages you to ask follow-up questions, listen closely, and notice the emotions behind someone’s words. During my interview with Levi Wann, I learned more about his leadership style and personality in thirty minutes than I ever could have through casual conversation.

This experience has helped me to:

- Listen more carefully

- Ask better questions

- Understand people's motivations

- Appreciate individual stories

- Write with greater empathy

The impact of interviewing extended beyond improving my writing; it enhanced my ability to serve, minister, and connect with others.
